1.1 ...PPST! is a four and one half day intensive training course which concentrates on 'getting the job done' more effectively, more
efficiently and more professionally. It is very much a practical course of training providing the participants with useful (and usable) tools and skills which can be utilized back on the job immediately.1.2.
This course has been described as 'an unusual and refreshing approach to training'. Certainly, it was designed to be just that and to be representative of a project in its own right, with visible evidence of it
being planned and executed in a professional manner (i.e. practising what is being preached!).
1.3. The early sessions are devoted to covering the essential subject matter using group
exercise/consolidation/re-iteration type activities. During the middle sessions, all of the participants are plunged into a 'real-life' project (no role playing) and the usual pressures of getting the job done on
time, to specification and within budget are brought to bear on the students. The later sessions are a consolidation of the whole course including students' presentations and a summary by the Course Director.
1.4. The training is intensive with additional work to be undertaken in the evenings. In addition, three group projects are undertaken on the fourth evening. There are many opportunities for the students to be 'in
the hot seat' from time to time and constructive criticism is encouraged.
1.5. The method of instruction is a mixture of 'hands on' group projects, movies, reflective discussions and a minimum amount of lecture.
1.6. Each course is presented personally by Mr. Philip Beynon with an additional Course Director present throughout the 2-day group project exercise.
1.7. There is a minimum of nine students on any one course and a maximum of fifteen.
1.8. After many years of operation, the course has proven to be equally valuable to people in non-project situations.
